Reception Locations at Deer Creek Valley Ranch

Deer Creek Valley Ranch offers two main reception spaces for couples to choose from.

1. The Barn at Deer Creek Valley Ranch (180 guests)

The Barn venue features a rustic yet elegant design, complete with exposed wooden beams and country details including saddle bar chairs. The barn also includes a large stone fireplace, which provides a cozy and inviting atmosphere for receptions. The space is perfect for a more rustic, country-style wedding and can be decorated to match the couple's desired theme.

Depending on your guest count, some couples seat guests upstairs in the loft. Be thoughtful about temperature and the time of year if sitting guests upstairs. We often hang a dress up in the loft or use it as a first look location if it is raining.

Weddings located in the Deer Creek Valley Ranch Barn often come with a more feminine small getting ready area (referred to as the Bridal Suite) and the large wedding party area in the Barn Dance Hall (referred to as the Man Cave). These are both in the same building. The first dance often takes place at the Fireside Patio while staff flips the room from dinner to dancing.

2. The Homestead Tent (140 guests)

The Homestead Tent is permanently connected to the Homestead building and offers a more classic feel for your reception. The Homestead tent has 12 chandeliers and can be decorated to suit the couple's desired theme. This reception area is directly connected to the rooms your bridal party can sleep in.

Couples that choose to have their reception in the Homestead Tent often have their cocktail hour on Duke’s Terrace and their first dance on the outdoor patio called The Hearth.

There is plenty of space for yard games if that is important to your guest experience. (We have never seen yard games get used by guests in any other part of the property.)

Wedding Ceremony Locations at Deer creek valley ranch

1. Mountain Bridge Meadow

The Mountain Bridge Meadow is an outdoor ceremony location at Deer Creek Valley Ranch, located in Bailey, Colorado. The meadow has a view of the majestic Rocky Mountains. The best features of this ceremony location are the stone walkway, the open field for family photos immediately after the ceremony and the 360 view your photographers will be able to capture while you say your wedding vows.

The meadow is easily accessible by foot, with a short walk from the parking area, but most couples choose to shuttle their guests to the ceremony from the Homestead. Chair setup will need to be scheduled for this location.

It is important to note that the Mountain Bridge Meadow location is the most colorful during the fall months. CliftonMarie is happy to send you full weddings from many different seasons for comparison.

2. Lakeside Gazebo (180 Guests)

The Gazebo is a charming outdoor ceremony location at Deer Creek Valley Ranch situated near a tranquil pond (apparently a heart shaped pond) and offers a cozier setting for couples looking to exchange vows. The walkway to the gazebo is also long and anyone wishing not to be seen by guests before walking down the aisle has tall pine trees for cover.

The gazebo is a small, open-air structure that will require chair setup. The gazebo can be decorated with flowers and greenery or hanging vases. The Lakeside Gazebo is easily accessible by foot from the Barn, or shuttled from the Homestead parking lot.

This ceremony site has less room for the photographer since they cannot get behind the couple under the gazebo or behind the couple on the walkway.

3. Pine Cathedral

The Pine Cathedral ceremony site is the closet ceremony location to the Homestead. It would be the most accessable for older guests who are less mobile. The backdrop to most of your photos will be large boulders that will block all direct sunlight. If you’re worried about bright sun overheating your guests, this site will be the most shaded at Deer Creek Valley Ranch. Photos from behind the couple are not possible at this location.

The walkway the wedding party will process down is a long one leading from the Homestead. Less mobile family members are encouraged to process from a different much shorter entrance at the back of the seating area.

This ceremony area will not require any chair setup. The benches lining the walkway are permanent but have no back support. The area the couple will stand can be decorated and is a raised platform.

Getting Ready spaces at Deer Creek Valley Ranch

Deer Creek Valley Ranch offers a variety of spaces for wedding party members to get ready in on the day of the wedding.

In the Homestead Venue-

1. The first is what the venue called the ‘bridal suite’ located within the Homestead. It has a feminine quality and was specifically designed for a larger group to get ready together. This is also the area couples can sleep in on their wedding night. The suite is equipped with a private bathroom, comfortable seating, and a vanity area, providing a relaxing and comfortable space for the someone to get ready in with their people surrounding them. This room has a sliding glass door exit that leads into a large field for wedding party photos.

2. Also in the Homestead, connected to the tent is a cozy living room which can be used for wedding party members as a quiet place to relax before the ceremony. The living room is equipped with comfortable seating, a poker table and direct access to the Homestead suites, Duke’s Terrace for cocktail hour and the reception venue. The room literally connects these three locations.

In the Barn Venue-

3. On the first floor of the Barn is a small Private Bridal Suite. The door to this room is directly accessable from where you’ll be seated during dinner and what will become the dance floor. The room has a few antiques and a bathroom with a swinging saloon door. It is a small room but works well if you won’t have many people joining you. Keep in mind, this door does not have a lock.

4. The Man Cave was created with a more masculine feel complete with a pool table, shuffleboard, foosball, a poker table, darts, piano, a fancy bar and televisions. This area has a smaller lockable room for privacy equipped with a bathroom, leather seating, and a space to hang clothing. This space is the perfect space for a longer hangout session directly below the reception/dance area in the Barn.

Next to The Barn-

5. NEW! The Cottage is a brand new getting ready area next to The Barn. Couples can stay overnight in the Cottage or only use it to get ready in. The Cottage is a good alternative to the smaller bridal suite inside of The Barn because it offers more room and is separated from the venue. The Cottage has a kitchen, bedroom and living area for your wedding party to get ready together in or do final touches before the ceremony.

The availability of these spaces depends on the size of the wedding party and the other events happening in the venue. Some couples choose to book the entire property so they can utilize spaces in both the Homestead and the Barn. This separates the two wedding parties to opposite ends of the property so they do not run into one another until the first look.

How far from Denver is Deer Creek Valley Ranch?

Deer Creek Valley Ranch is a 90 minute drive from the Denver International Airport when traffic is light. The drive from Denver International Airport to Deer Creek Valley Ranch would likely take up to 2 hours and 30 minutes, in high mountain traffic times. Some potential traffic difficulties include ‘leaf peeping season’ conflicting heavily with wedding traffic from late October through September.

The route would take you along I-70 heading west, then take exit 252 for CO-9 S toward Breckenridge. You would continue on CO-9 S, and then turn right onto US-285 S. The ranch would be on the right. Be aware there are two entrances to Deer Creek Valley Ranch! The venue will tell you which entrance to instruct your guests to park near. Remind your guests to watch for deer near sunset on their way back after the wedding.
